Set of 7 European Starlings
European Starlings come together when a predator is near. They become one large mesmerizing abstract form that looks beautiful and mysterious at once. The theory in how they move so organically is they react to the movements of their 7 nearest neighbors. They were released in New York City in 1890 and have developed a large population across North America since. However, these forms known as Murmurations are mostly spotted in Europe.

Woodcut printed onto mulberry paper and individually hand-dusted with green iridescent pigment, then adhered onto 3/4" thick plywood. The exact image is then scroll sawed out and sanded. Please forgive the natural wood's imperfections on the side cuts - some missing layers and chipping may occur. Each back has a keyhole slot and comes with screws, making it ready to hang and flush to the wall. Each bird is about 7" wide and ranges from 2-10" in height.
